    The Covenant Congregational Church supports an active music program which encompasses vocal and instrumental music.  There are 3 vocal choirs -- one adult and two children's choirs.  All three participate in worship and in special musical events, and all sing to the glory of God!  There is also a brand-new contemporary group which debuted in the Fall of 1999!!!

Chancel Choir    ** Ages 16 and above **

Rehearses Wednesdays from 7:30 to 9:00 p.m.
Sings at worship each Sunday from September through mid-June
Provides leadership for worship service music
Prepares usually two anthems per week
Presents an annual Christmas Concert
Directed by Carolyn A. Johnson, Music Director
Employs a wide variety of musical styles ranging from

          Classical

                       to   Gospel

                                        to  Contemporary

 

Praise Choir    ** Grades 1 through 6 **

Rehearses on Sunday mornings before worship
Sings and performs for special events, such as the Christmas Concert and Children's Day
Receives basic instruction in how to read music
Is introduced to rhythm instruments and "baby" handbell ringing
Directed by Carolyn A. Johnson, Music Director

 

Cherub Choir    ** Ages (3)4 through (5)6 **

Rehearses on Sunday mornings during "Sing Time" (following Sunday School class instruction)
Sings and performs for special events, such as the Christmas Concert and Children's Day
Directed by the Sunday School staff

 

Handbell Choir    ** Ages 10 and above **

Rehearses on Sunday afternoons from 5:00 to 6:00 p.m.
Instrumental choir
Intergenerational
Prospective members must be able to read music, or be willing to learn (instruction is provided)
Directed by Gaye S. Smith

 

Entheos

Rehearses Sundays from 12:15 to 1:00 p.m.
Our new intergenerational group
Will lead the congregation in the singing of contemporary songs and provide other music for worship
Debut in Fall of 1999 !
